About Our Program

Learn to Skate Figure Skating classes teach the fundamentals of ice skating. The lessons are taught in a group setting with others working towards the same goal. Elements taught are based on the badge level of the skater.

Basic Badge Level classes are for skaters 5 years old and above, including adults.

Snowplow Sam classes are for those who are 3-5 years old.

 About our Instructors

All of our Learn to Skate Instructors meet the coaching standards set by Learn to Skate USA. They teach according to the techniques found in the program’s Instructor’s Manual.

Ice skating is a great way to meet new people, gain confidence in oneself, and is an excellent source of exercise.

What to wear

  • warm, comfortable clothing: It is recommended that skaters dress as if they were going outside on a cold winter day. Dress in layers, and don’t forget gloves or mittens.
  • skates: Skaters need to have their own skates. Double-runner ice skates are not allowed because they actually interfere with progress. We strongly recommend buying good-quality skates made by companies such as Riedell and Jackson. Look for skates that provide enough support in the ankle.
  • helmet: It is highly recommended that skaters wear a helmet during class time.  Please click here to read more about helmets.

Important:

There are no-make-up lessons for lessons missed due to absence. Also, due to the low fees that are being charged, it is not possible to prorate the cost or arrange make-up lessons for late entries into the program.
